Hi all,

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to read this. Secondly, apologies for any naiive use of terms as I am no professional.

I moved into a house 6 months ago, but since we booted up the heating, it has never managed to regulate itself very well. It is an Ideal Independent C30 boiler, connected to a wired Drayton RTS1 thermostat. The boiler itself seems to work well, I don't get any fault codes on the display, and it comes on and turns off at the allotted times. But what it doesn't seem to do is answer calls from the thermostat.

I have done some minor troubleshooting, the short list is below.

- switched it on and off again (I was shocked when this didn't fix it!)
- listened to the thermostat - it clicks when you move the temp up, and when you move it down again.
- taken the thermostat off the wall, looked to see that the wires were connected (which they were).

I have ordered a replacement thermostat from Screwfix to check if this is the problem, but if that doesn't solve the problem, I will need to hire a professional. Before I do though, I wondered if anyone had any advice that may some me some money.

Many thanks.

Hi, Later this year I am going away for a 2 week holiday and as the weather will be warm there is no need for the heating to be on and arguably no need for me to needlessly heat hot water. My intention was to turn the boiler off along with the mains water when going away. Now, I have heard...

Hello, I am seeking some advice, I have a POTTERTON PROMAX 28 COMBI Boiler and I noticed yesterday that the water around the house is no longer warming up. The heat exchanger has been changed 6 months ago, so I do not believe it is that. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...
