I inherited a gravity system in a hotel i look after. a 64 kw oil boiler heats indirectly two high level horizontal cylinders which when hot gravitate hot water through 11/2 flow and returns to two more cylinders at opposite ends of the hotel. As i say all by gravity not a pump in site and has worked well since the seventies.
The new owner wants to change the arrangement of the primary cylinders to new stainless steel ones with a condensing boiler set up.
Does anybody think this will mess up the old circulation as he wants to place the new cylinders in the upright position at floor level and pump the indirect side leaving gravity to do the rest. Should i have the cylinders made with 11/2 tappings using the top and bottom direct tappings for my flow and return take offs to the other cylinders. By the way the furthest away cylinders are direct.

If your upgrading the system then you will have to convert to a fully pumped system with cylinder thermostats etc...

Much more efficient

As said, just wants all upgrading so no need to even worry about the gravities,
sounds like a good job tbh.
