Hi
I had to take the plinth boards off in the kitchen to install a new oven and at the back I saw this speedfit fitting.

It’s a 10mm fitting on the central heating loop, and it feeds the kitchen radiator. I think it’s the flow feed, not the return. To me it looks like at may have been burnt somehow, and part of the collet seems to be cracked.

It seems to have held up for 12 years or so (since the house was built) but should it be replaced, and is it likely to either leak or burst off, even though it hasn’t yet?
Thanks for any replies!

Can't see how that's been burnt. Looks more like somethings dripped on it and possibly slightly melted it and discoloured it?

Only thing that made me think it was burnt/melted is the fact that the collet looks like it has a crack in it and parts of the plastic look a bit deformed. Tomorrow I could try to clean it and see if the brown marking comes off.

The collar does seem to be cracked.
Some tear marks on nuts also, but might be as a result of grips used.

Likewise, looks more contaminated than burnt. They tend to bubble up if burnt. If unsure of it, they are not difficult to undo and replace if you can get hands on. Simply drain down CH. Slacken nuts on fitting and remove. Fit like for like, and make sure pipe has inserts fitted. Recently attended leaking pipes that so-called plumber had installed without, so I never assume all kosher before disassembly. Usual disclaimer, if unsure of you abilities call in a pro.
Or leave well alone if its not leaking.
