Mass spectrometry is a scientific technique for measuring the mass-to-charge ratio of ions. It is often coupled to chromatographic techniques such as gas- or liquid chromatography and has found widespread adoption in the fields of analytical chemistry and biochemistry where it can be used to identify and characterize small molecules and proteins (proteomics). The large volume of data produced in a typical mass spectrometry experiment requires that computers be used for data storage and processing. Over the years, different manufacturers of mass spectrometers have developed various proprietary data formats for handling such data which makes it difficult for academic scientists to directly manipulate their data. To address this limitation, several open, XML-based data formats have recently been developed by the Trans-Proteomic Pipeline at the Institute for Systems Biology to facilitate data manipulation and innovation in the public sector. These data formats are described here.
Hello there,
I have a Glow-worm Flexicom 18sx boiler which has stopped working while we were on holiday.
I.E. everything seems fine with the controls & bolier but there is no longer hot water or heating on demand.
Now, as we were away, obviously nothing has changed, so I've tried to diagnose...

Hi guys, I fitted one of these a couple of days ago.
It seems to me that it comes with a blue AND a clear hose to connect the button to the flush valve.
The one I got only had a blue hose and the flush seems a bit weak to be honest.
Anyone had experience of these and knows if they are OK with...
Hello,
Just bought a second-hand Bosch dishwasher and i've got a problem connecting the drain hose from the dishwasher onto the waste pipe. The drain hose diameter seems to be too small size and seems to to be around the same size as the thing i'm trying to put it on and as a result i'm only...
There is a problem with my water heater. I keep losing pressure from my hot tap. It's on all taps so I know it's not a air lock in the tap. I also know it's not the mixing valve as the died a couple of months ago and was replaced. What happens is the water coming out of hot tap is just a...

The new viper is £90!!! But £50 if you subscribe with them. Has anyone subscribed to this? Do I need the book if I subscribe? Isn't all the same information available online to all...
Normally I wouldn't hesitate to call in a plumber for this, but with a new baby only days away from being born and my wife on maternity leave I'm trying to save some pennies and fix this problem myself (or at least try the obvious things first).
I've got a sewer smell coming from the washing...

Hi all, I would appreciate an opinion from any professional plumbers on the price of a job.

Went to a multi-dwelling property the other day to carry out a service, The gas meter is in a purpose built room which houses meters and also the incoming main. Every meter in this room wasn't bonded within the first (600mm or before the first tee), but on closer inspection it seems they are...

I moved into my home 1 month ago and have had multiple issues with my boiler which (in the title) is a Remeha Avanta Plus 28c. Firstly, it looks like the built on time clock and main board on the boiler has been replaced. The original thermostat was disconnected for some reason as I could see...

I'm extending my house and my builder put a P/C sum in his quote for plumbing at £5k. He's introduced a plumber who's been around, and the builder has now sent me an estimate for £14k+VAT. So, despite being a very experienced and reputable extension specialist, his own estimate was nearly 3...
