cupboard
The term cupboard was originally used to describe an open-shelved side table for displaying dishware, more specifically plates, cups and saucers. These open cupboards typically had between one and three display tiers, and at the time, a drawer or multiple drawers fitted to them. The word cupboard gradually came to mean furniture for enclosing dishware or grocery items that are stored in a home.
We had water leak from the laundry sink into the cupboard below, then flow down the hole cut for the pipes (the hole was on the floor of the cupboard).. this water then went downstairs and flooded the downstairs bedroom that is directly above the laundry area.
It makes no sense to me to cut the...

My family and I live in a bungalow, we have lived there for nearly five years. The property was built in 1964. I want to turn off the water supply so I can install a washing machine, the other place where we lived had modern fittings at the back of the washing machine to stop the water.
We...
The pipework around the hot water tank in the airing cupboard has developed several leaks after a chemical flush.
It's an open vented system.
Any ideas on controlling or fixing the leak?
Should I turn off the red valve (pic 1) that has a leak next to it and rundown the hot water?
Pic 2 a...
Hi. Please can anyone help. My mum has just sent me this video of her airing cupboard.
She had put the imersion heater on to warm the water for a shower when she noticed this horrendous noise. Can anybody shed any light on it ? She has BG cover but before calling them I thought I’d post here...
Hi folks
I live in 2 bedroom bungalow and question is about the soil pipe my plumber/bathroom fitter boxed into the corner base unit he fitted.
Question is the AAV seems as though its going to be a pig to access if needed
I notice that white plastic connector further down the soil pipe, would...
Hi all,
I've had F23 error on my Vaillant ecofit pure because of CH system. My rads are not heating up properly. I've replaced the 3 way mid position valve, and taken the head off the Grundfos UPS2 and cleaned out the impeller. I've run Sentinel x400 for 4 weeks now, prior to this I drained...
Hi, my hot water system (50L Dux Proflo) has an ECV (expansion control valve) that was fitted in 2019, ever since then it drips pretty much after every shower or usage of the hot water, now normally this wouldn't be an issue but the system is in an interior cupboard which means the constant...
There is black plastic thing in my airing cupboard that has hot water going through it. Its been there for years and I have never seen water going through it. Today I had a loud noise in my airing cupboard (like water dripping) and noticed that it had water going through. It doesn't seem...
Hi all,
We want to change the position of our boiler from the Kitchen to the outside cupboard at the front of the house.
The cupboard is 1m x 1m and 2.4m height and currently has a wooden door - so temperature wise will be close to outside temp.
We want to install a Viessmann Vitodens 100-w...
Hi all,
The attached pictures should say more than I can but basically there is a capped pipe into the top of our boiler cupboard (22mm). It is capped off here (see image 1). This then runs up to near ceiling level then turns 90 into external wall (see image 2). Image 3 shows possibly said...
The attached pic is of an airing cupboard with hot water tank and associated pipework etc. Does anyone know what the device is with the white sealant around it near the tank? I assume it's to allow you to monitor water dripping from something.
Thanks.
Hi Everyone,.
My wife has asked me to tidy up our airing cupboard, which is next to the bathroom... Pipe boxing in and a paint job... Nothing too serious... I'm a complete novice but should be able to manage this...
When I've looked at it today there appears to be a Green electrical wire...
When installing a gas hob the required isolation valve usually falls behind the cooker. That is removed by unscrewing 4 screws. I'm wondering if its seen acceptable by most to use a compression gas isolation valve in such a position. . Thanks
I live in a Bungalow and would like to put an airing cupboard in the bathroom with a hot water cylinder. Is this possible?
I currently have a combi boiler and would need to change this also.
Not sure on guidelines for this so some input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mark
any help would be gratefully accepted. We’ve had a single storey extension to the rear with toilet. Now we have a strange sewage like odour coming from behind the kitchen sink but not this side of the trap. The sink waste along with the new bathroom waste all now go into the soil pipe which in...
Guys,
After a long lay-off I am looking at getting back into the gas industry. I have tried to attach a drawn pic, but was unable to due to a repeated error.
My question is, if a conventional boiler is fitted within an airing cupboard (above the DHW cylinder - vertical flue) and the F/R pipes...
Hi
I'm about to refit our kitchen, but have a pretty ugly Sabre 29 HE boiler in one corner. Am I able to build this into a kitchen cabinet?
The installation guidance gives a minimum clearance at the front of 600mm, but does this include a kitchen cabinet door?
Thanks in advance.
Mike
Hello
I've had a google around but haven't found anything that suits my situation.
I have an old back boiler (complete with a typical lovely eyesore 80's gas fire) in the chimney breast in my kitchen that used to be a dining room. The gas fire part of it is never used. Obviously it's massively...
