In a nutshell are modern boilers fit for purpose. Since the temp has dropped I must of had 50 calls boilers conked out.

Most within 7 years old.

Literally selling customers junk
 
If you think how much they do they get a hard life
Fire up dozens of times a day
Poor installation and freak weather causing freezing
 
I don't like combis at all never have and never will but no modern boiler is 100% reliable
 
These conditions are unusual and will test any boiler i have had a few 11/4 condsense pipes freeze up in this Siberian blast now carrying a few lenghths of 11/4 lagging and tie wraps on the van , easy money just a pain getting about the side roads are lethal sheet ice . cheers kop

Hi all. I recently upgraded our CH system, but rather than the expected drop in gas consumption, Octopus is saying we're using roughly 30% more! The installer has said they can downrate the boiler, but to my mind that addresses maximum consumption, not any inefficiencies there may be relating...

I've a client with a rusty 20yr+ old Certikin 180 (44kw) oil pool boiler that needs changing. Certikins replacement looks like it is the exact same boiler. It has a riello r40 burner and non condensing 85% efficient boiler... Oftec say it wouldn't be compliant and would have to contact Building...

It was fitted with the boiler a Potterton Suprima 30L about 21 years ago. Two PCB's later and a new fan the boiler is working perfectly. However, the programmer display is not showing any digits for the clock or anything else so I am unable to program it. It still works the boiler manually...
