boilers

A boiler is a closed vessel in which fluid (generally water) is heated. The fluid does not necessarily boil. The heated or vaporized fluid exits the boiler for use in various processes or heating applications, including water heating, central heating, boiler-based power generation, cooking, and sanitation.

Views on Heat Input - Vaillant EcoFit Pure System boilers

We fit a few Vaillant Ecofit Pure system boilers, usually the case when an old Heat Only boiler goes and we replace with a system rather leaving OV, better all round solution. Ecofits are great as they're rear flues and fit in cupboards. So when replacing we usually replace like for like in...

Which combi boilers are available with a rear flue option?

I'm after a boiler with a rear flue option for a replacement cupboard installation, i know the Vaillant Ecofit Pure and Gloworm equivalent but i've fitted one before and wasn't really happy paying a grand for what seems to be essentially the same as a £480 Heatline Capriz2 so was looking for...

    Ideal Boilers 14mb inlet pressure

It says in the manufactures instructions that a 24kw ideal boiler will work ok with a gas inlet pressure of 14mb or more. With a working pressure at the meter of 19-23mb this will be far greater than the allowed 1mb drop for the pipework. They allow 1.5mb drop for the gas valve too. If...

    Intergas boiler thoughts

We heard about Intergas boilers from a family member who has just had one installed. The gas fitter he used raves about them saying how reliable they are. What are you forum members thoughts on them? . Only having 4 moving parts is appealing. The Rapid 32 model looks good value at around £700...

    Version boiler flow rate.

I have decided to go for the Version boiler when I get my system upgraded but I currently have a Glowworm 35 store which gives lashings off hot water which ilike, so I'm looking at the 111-w as its the same performance as the glow worm, I did initially go for the 100w button I was a bit...

Boilers and Powerflush - a one time deal ?

Is there a "typical" interval for doing a powerflush? Reason for asking is that it was mentioned on a recent visit by "ServeHome". I couldn't swear to it, but I'm sure that when it was done previously I was told that I only needed it to be done once. History: All in 2009. New Boiler...

    Gas boilers scrapped by 2050?

Just heard on the news about the Uk's ambitious climate change targets, of which one of them was to scrap gas boilers by 2050. On one hand its 30 years into the distant future but on the other there's still the question of system design, as I understand it new boilers, air source for example...

Boilers that allow air intake 150mm from opening

I know some boiler manufactors allow the flues air in-take to exit as close as 150mm to an opening in a building. As long as you put a plume kit to get the products of combustion at lest 300mm away from the opening. Does anyone know which manufacturers allow this? I usually fit Ideals but as far...

4 Small Boilers or 1 Big one??

Hi, just bought our first house which is a georgian tereace with 3 storeys + cellar & attic. It's about 70 sq m per floor, with the ground and basement both having a 20sq m rear extension. We might turn it into flats in years to come, but for the next 6 years it will be our home. The question...

    Boilers with limited/no spares

Morning all, I rarely come across boilers for which i can not get spares. My region seems to be full of Pottertons and Worcesters. Heat only boilers and confusion

Trying to get to grips with all the terminology here and what can be done with what. Heat only = open vent boiler?
