Looking for silicone recommendations for sealing between a metal bath and upvc wall panels. I was going for dow 785+ but someone mentioned its no good for binding to plastic and that 785n would be better. Can anyone confirm this?
My heating system comprises an Ideal Logic 12 boiler located downstairs and a Gledhill OV SOL cylinder located upstairs . The problem is that when the Gledhill controls for the “hot water” and “central heading” are turned on the Ideal boiler makes a constant “clicking” noise and tries to start...
Hello
I need to cross over an existing copper hot water pipe with a cold 15mm mains copper pipe. Is there a standard I need to adhere to in terms of clearance?
Hello All,
Was looking for some innovative ideas from you all.😊
I’m renovating a bathroom in a flat.
The soil, hot & cold water pipe runs stops me from butting the new toilet cisten flush to the wall. I was hoping to use a flexible waste to help me get closer but the pipes stop this option. The...
Attached is a ground floor picture of the soil pipe in our home. There was originally a toilet which has now been permanently capped off and you can also see a sink waste pipe attached.
My plan is to drill out one of the 50mm sockets directly opposite the current sink waste for a new 40mm...
Hey all,
I’ve got a new section of stack fitted but when I fitted the strap boss I was too keen to test it and it now slightly leaks where it meets the stack.
I was wondering whether it’s worth trying to get it off and have another go or just replace the full piece (about 2 metres )
If I did...
Hi

Any suggestions would be welcome. The toilet unit is Ideal Standard and is over 20 years old. It is is great condition, but the toilet lid is broken as a builder...
Trying to add a shower into a small bathroom, I'm looking at moving my hot water cylinder to the loft. Currently, I have a vented 200L cylinder (in the bathroom) with the principal source of heat being an Economy 7 setup, which gives adequate hot water for our needs. The cylinder also has an...
Hello everybody! I have a question: I have replaced old radiator(was leaking) using brackets from old radiator, it seems to me that radiator is too close to the wall. Please see pictures attached. Question is: is it acceptable to leave it like that? or there should be some rules for how much...
Total plumbing-tiling novice.
Our bathroom has been tiled. What should we use where the walls meet and where the tiles meet the ceiling - mastic, sealant or caulk? I'm confused about the difference and have had varying advice.
Once it's sealed, can I cover the edges (ceiling, floor, wall to...
Hi,
I am having to lift the shower tray off the floor and the ceiling height is approximately 2.3 m as per the standard for modern houses. With a fairly standard 2 m height door, this only leaves 170 mm gap between the top of the door and the ceiling and I wonder if this is sufficient for...
We have been given two part numbers for the electrode kit for our Promax boiler but the reference is for the Gold. Will we be ok to use the electrode kit 5132366
Sometime in the last few weeks, the forum software has developed an an nnoying habit. When typing a reply at the bottom of a longish thread, the page seems to scroll down a couple of pixels with every keystroke. A couple of sentences and the reply box has moved down half a screen or so.
Anybody...
Hi,
Having wet underfloor heating put in and been doing some reading, think pipe spacing is going to be 200 but read somewhere 100 from walls & sliding doors/bi-folds - is that correct ?
What distance would people recommend from kitchen units ? I have a run against one wall and then a 1200...
Hi,
I am replacing some radiators and using new fittings. Most radiator valves now come with a compression interface rather than a union interface to the radiator tail. It seems to me that it would be rather difficult, if not impossible, to remove a radiator at a later date for decorating when...
Hi, I want to replace kitchen mixer, single lever tap, in rental flat, and not make flow any worse on hot, which is gravity fed with approx only 1m head, or 0.1 bar. I'm not sure of rating of current tap, but flow isn't terrible, but tap has been damaged and is now also stiff. Was going to...
Hello I'm completely lost here I have a leak between my toilet and the tank I have looked up how to repair it but I'm a bit confused as the bolts on my toilet don't go into the tank itself and I can't see anyway if removing the tank to replace the part in between is there any other way of fixing...
Hello all,
Apologies A) for showing my ignorance and B) possibly asking a question that has been answered elsewhere - though I have looked!
I have a problem with the heating on a pub I have taken over. The boiler has been recently overhauled and works fine, but I'm struggling to control it...
